It is very important to take accurate measurements, this will
ensure the success of your project.
* Please record all
your measurements in inches (102", not 8' 6")
STEP 1:
Measure your space from wall to
wall. It is suggested to measure your walls at three different heights
(at the floor, at the ceiling and at 48" from the floor). Record
the smallest dimension.
STEP 2:
Measure the details of each wall
section. All windows and doors should be measured from the outer edge
of the casing or trim. All wall sections should be measured from the
corner of the wall to the first obstacle (window, door, or opening
- remember to stop at the window or door trim).
STEP 3:
Now that you have your overall dimensions
and your detailed dimensions it is time to check your work. Add up
all the detailed dimensions from Step 2 and verify that the total
is equal to the overall wall dimensions from Step 1. If they do not
equal you must re-measure.
STEP 4:
Determine your ceiling height by measuring
from floor to ceiling in several locations. Record the smallest dimension.
STEP 5:
If your kitchen space has soffits/bulkheads
you must measure the height and depth.
STEP 6:
Note the location of your appliance hook-ups
and plumbing.
STEP 7:
Once you finalize all your measurements
and ensure that they are accurate please sketch your space and note
your dimensions on the grid paper (click
to download). Remember to note the location of your hook-ups and
plumbing. Also, please note important information such as ceiling
height, soffit size, applicance sizes on the information form (click
to download).
