Take a few moments to review the information presented here to help you select the right cupola. Cupolas and weathervanes make great-looking additions to homes and other buildings. Cupolas can be used for ventilation or can just be a decorative accent.

In selecting the right size cupola for your building, a good rule of thumb is 1.5" of cupola for every foot of unbroken roof line. The key idea here is the unbroken roof line measurement (see charts below)

For Example: if a roof section measures 24', the minimum cupola size should be approximately 36 inches square. For a more dramatic effect, or if a cupola larger than 60" square is needed, consider using two cupolas on the roofline. When using more than one cupola per roofline, here is a good rule of thumb to follow: use 1" of cupola for every foot of unbroken roofline (see chart below). For example: if a roof section measures 24 feet, the minimum size of each cupola should be approximately 24 inches square.

A quick and easy way to visualize what is best for you is to position a cardboard box of similar size to the recommended cupola on your roof and then view it from the ground. We suggest walking around the house and viewing it from various angles.

All of our cupolas are "weathervane ready". They do not require a roof mount or any additional hardware. You will only need a hand saw, a screwdriver and silicone caulk! Complete, easy step-by-step instructions are included.

Vinyl & Wood Cupolas: Our cupolas are designed for a roof pitch up to 10" rise per foot (10/12 pitch)- most roofs are not steeper than this. If, however, your pitch is steeper than 10" rise per foot, you will have to include an extended base in your order.
