Last spring (2004), we decided to renovate our upstairs balcony. It was constructed of a wood base (2x4s) and had a wood railing. We live on a salt marsh adjacent to the St Johns River and Fort Caroline National Park, so our view is exceptionally important to us. The wood railing severely impacted our view while sitting on the balcony or looking outside from within our master bedroom. We wanted a secure railing that did not block our view and was aesthetically pleasing. I priced wrought iron railing and almost fell down when I hear the quotes. I found your railing on the internet and ordered it immediately. The installed cost was approximately 25% of a "plain" wrought iron railing. When the railing arrived, we were very pleased with the railing's appearance and quality of construction. Our contractor commented about the quality of the railing and ease of installation. He took photographs of the railing and has recommended APM (now Accent Building Products) railings to several of his clients. I think you will agree that it made a dramatic difference in the appearance of our home. My wife and I are also very pleased with the visibility through the pickets and how sturdy the railing is. Deck attached to sunroom and surrounding pool. 1000 square foot deck made with trex decking and summit aluminum railings that we bought from APM (now Accent Building Products). When we started our deck project, I knew that I wanted a deck railing that was maintenance free, was very strong and that looked great. My mother's home is located over looking a mountain lake in Tennessee. Ever since my Dad completely remodeled the home from the ground up there hasn't been a railing on the decks (about 160' of perimeter). There just didn't seem to be a good solution that wouldn't block the view and still have strength to it. The level of the upper deck is about 20' above the ground. My dad died several years ago and with my own children going over to my mom's to play it was time to do something to the decks to make them safe for little ones. My mom is in her 60's so something that was easy to maintain was very important. The main goal however was to have a railing that was appealing to look at and would not detract from the beauty of the surroundings. With the height of the decks it had to be strong so if a visitor decided to lean on it it would support them. To have a wooden railing be very strong it would have blocked much of the view and also would need much maintenance. We decided to look into vinyl railing and upon discovering the simplicity of the fairway vinyl system and its availability in khaki color we knew it was the choice. Additionally we decided to go with the steel/composite posts since the decks had no posts either. This was my first experience with this type of railing and it just took minutes to get the hang of installing it. She has had many compliments on the railing and is very pleased with it. I enjoyed installing it and take pride in the installation. It is definitely a product that a do-it-yourselfer or a professional can enjoy working with. It is hard to fully appreciate the job from the pictures since the decks wrap around the back of the home in a U shape.

We love our vinyl railing - so easy to maintain (no more spindle painting !!!) APMDirect's (now Accent Building Products) pricing was 30-50% less than that of any of my local suppliers (including large retailers) for the same high quality railing. Shipping was fast - delivered right to our door. Customer service was on the ball - catching an oversight I had made on the number of mounting brackets.
