Velux utilizes the latest technology in producing their own insulated glass to ensure that it meets the hightest efficiency standards. This ensures that Velux products provide unparalleled protection against heat gain and heat loss, fading and condensation. Velux glass is also superior to plastic because it is more energy efficient, more durable, and reduces external noises (rain). Also, unlike plastic it will not discolor, leak or allow drafts.

Tempered Glass tempered skylight glass
Tempered glass consists of tempered safety glass triple-coated with LoE3, dual-sealed and injected with Argon gas. This quality glass provides excellent energy efficiency, thermal performance and protects against the sun's fade causing rays. Tempered glass can also be combined with other energy efficient options for even greater performance.

Tempered Glass allows a broad spectrum of light into the home and is extremely durable and essentially maintenance free. Unlike old-fashioned plastic it does not diffuse light or obscure the view, and does not degrade with time and exposure to the elements.
Benefits
  • High energy efficiency results in a more comfortable living environment and money savings on utility bills.
  • Meets ENERGY STAR approval guidelines for all climatic regions of the US.
  • NFRC rating is substantially better than required by most common building codes.
  • Provides three times more protection against solar heat gain.
  • Resists condensation twice as long as clear glass.
  • Protects interior spaces by reflecting the vast majority of the sun's fade causing rays.
Features
Tempered glass is LoE3, argon gas-filled glass designed for maximum energy efficiency.

Availability
Tempered glass is available for most VELUX skylights including:
  • Manual venting deck mounted skylight (VS skylight)
  • Fixed deck mounted skylight (FS skylight)
  • Manual venting curb mounted skylight (VCM skylight)
  • Fixed curb mounted skylight (FCM skylight)
  • Pan-flashed skylight (QPF skylight)
Laminated Glass laminated skylight glass
Laminated glass features a triple-layer of LoE coating for increased energy efficiency plus a laminated pane for added safety and protection from fade-causing UV rays. Laminated glass can also be combined with other energy efficient options for even greater performance.

Laminated Glass offers maximum protection and indoor comfort. When broken, Laminated Glass has a spider web effect like a car windshield, rather than breaking into small shards of glass. Building codes in certain geographic areas require Laminated Glass. Please review your local and state building codes. California state require Laminated Glass.
