I had an unfinished upstairs room with no window. Adding a dormer window would have cost $5000+, so we used a $900 Velux roof window and installed it myself in about six hours, including roof cut out and reframing, all from the inside. I never had to get on the 10/12 pitch roof. I purchased a 20' escape chain ladder which allows the roof window to serve as an emergeny egress and qualify the room as a bedroom. -Ken, Arizona

I contacted and/or visited every local dealer that was listed on Velux's website. Most prices were higher than APM (now Accent Building Products). Only one dealer matched APM's list price, and all required from 3-6 weeks for delivery. However, buying through APM (now Accent Building Products) I saved about $77 since I didn't pay tax or shipping charges, and I was amazed when the shipper called me only 3 days after ordering the skylights to schedule delivery. In the future APM will be my primary resource for building supplies that can be purchased on the web. I wish I had known about APM (now Accent Building Products) when I did my kitchen cabinets. - Dan, California
